John C. Kauffman
About
John retired from the U.S. Navy JAG Corps in 2007, and with the option to live anywhere in the United States made the easy choice to settle with his family in beautiful Washington state.
John dreamed of becoming an attorney from a young age but initially decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the Navy. He earned an ROTC scholarship to attend UC Berkeley, and upon graduation was commissioned as a Navy officer. During his first tour he applied for and was accepted to the Law Education Program, which provides a full scholarship to law school and transfer to the JAG Corps.
John loved his time as a JAG, where he served in various interesting roles to include prosecuting and defense attorney at the Naval Legal Service Office in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; legal advisor to the Commanding Officer of the USS NIMITZ (CVN 68) while she was homeported in Bremerton; legal instructor at the Naval Justice School; and the Navy’s Law of the Sea and international maritime environmental law adviser in the Pentagon. John is keenly aware of the service and sacrifice made by the men and women of our military.
John now focuses his talents and energy for individuals who have been injured through the negligence of others. He enjoys representing people from all walks of life and is especially proud to represent those who serve and their families. He has successfully represented officers and enlisted personnel from Puget Sound-area bases, veterans, and police officers injured while in the line of duty. Additionally, John’s experience as a parent makes him especially passionate about obtaining fair compensation for injured children.
When he is not working on cases John enjoys being in the outdoors fishing, crabbing, clamming, and boating. Contact John now to schedule an appointment for a free consultation. John will meet you at a time and place that is convenient for you, including through teleconference. As a retiree John has access to all military bases for in-person meetings.
